One of New Zealand's best loved after dinner entertainers.

Gary McCormick is a former gardener, surfboard manufacturer and merry-go-round operator! He has fronted numerous television documentaries including Raglan By The Sea, which won the Documentary of the Year Award, and The Bad Boys.

After 30 years of travelling New Zealand, as a poet and an observer of New Zealand life through the "Heartland" and "McCormick" television series, Gary McCormick is an expert commentator, and writer, on life in New Zealand.

His interest in writing has spawned six books of poetry to date, a book about life on the road, The Roaring Forties, and a book about the documentary series, Heartland. He has also written a series of children's books. To date two have been published - Albert - the Anxious Parrot and Albert Takes Off. His newest book is titled McCormick's Guide to Staying Alive in New Zealand. His first book of poems Naked and Nameless won a Pen Poetry Award. Honey I blew up the Atoll, McCormick's Guide to Staying Alive in New Zealand and Millennium Man round off the list.

When not filming, broadcasting or writing, much of Gary's time is spent on the corporate speaking circuit and he has been voted one of the most popular public speakers in the country. He is also listed in the top 10 of the "Most Popular New Zealander" list and was in 1997 was voted "Entertainer of the Year".

Gary is also sometimes remembered as the leader of a political party - The Pull Yourself Together party. Gary joined the award-winning More FM Christchurch breakfast crew in January 2003. He continues to tour New Zealand with his “mates” and his surfboard and with David Lange have now regaled most pubs in Heartland New Zealand.
In 1999 Gary Gary began a classic New Zealand tour with Brett Tutheridge and Greg Ward as "The Roasts" - New Zealand's First Family. An hilarious look at aristocracy in New Zealand.

Gary may be a New Zealand icon but he is still one of the best after dinner speakers and debaters in New Zealand, with his off the cuff humour always appropriate and very funny.
