"Death By Chocolate: an interactive murder mystery with chocolate tasting" as part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival
Performances: March 2010 (evening of 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21)
Rehearsals: February 2010 (schedule will be created around chosen actors’ availability)

THE ROLES
All roles are major roles, and all actors will be required to perform continually for the 2+ hour duration of the event –- with the exception of ‘AJ’ who will be required for rehearsals only.
Male
AJ: The Boy Next Door
- a nice guy, smooth, friendly
NOTE: this is the victim. We will require someone to play this role in rehearsals only
Age: 30s/40s
Bev: The Aloof Leader
- down to earth, pragmatic, of few words, solid, listener/thinker
NOTE: Bev is not a suspect, he is the first officer on the scene and he will facilitate the evening
Age: 35 to 55
Jack: The Bastard
- blue collar bloke, conservative, absolutely not PC, comic – although what he says is offensive, redneck, outdated knowledge/opinions, sexist, racist, homophobic, off-handed offensive ignorance, outgoing, jovial/joker, can have a quiet dangerous temper if the wrong buttons pushed
Age: mid 20s
Justin: The Nervous One
- runs on nervous energy, sociable but socially awkward/inept, continuous talker, high variation in volume, frets/worries, desperate to please, can ‘faint’, easily develops strong attachments, naïve
Age: mid 20s
Female
Allie: The Damaged Dame
- reserved, condescending, superior, righteous, tightly self controlled, may have emotional outbursts, angry and frustrated due to lack of control post-accident (now disabled), mostly silent, saavy
Age: 30s/40s
Coco: Larger than Life
- attention seeking, vapid, needy, clingy, insecure, demanding, ludicrously talkative / verbal diarrhoea; can be any of: alcoholic, fake, peppy, superficial, ruined, confident, ego-centric, busy-body
Age: late 20s to early 40s
Kaz: Crusader for the Underdog
- protective of victims/the helpless, always puts on a happy face to strangers/false cheer, caring, pro-active activist, has a unique and strong moral code, when under pressure overuses positive mantras / fortune cookie sayings / zen phrases as a coping technique, outspoken, picks her fights
Age: early 20s
Pearl: The Martyr
- dependant, lacks confidence, gullible, hesitant, duality: assert-retreat, frantic-fearful; romanticises false hopes, perfectionist, cares deeply for (a few) people and cannot see their faults, doggedly faithful and defends those she’s loyal to; obsessive; is currently trying to exert her own independence but finds it very difficult/terrifying; self-sacrificing
-early 20s
Sue: The Quiet One
- withdrawn/unwell, watchful, silently scheming, needs slow/gentle coaxing to reveal hidden gems, wily: prioritises information and carefully “lets slip” facts intentionally; not easily trapped
Age: late 20s to early 40s
Tam: Black WidowSpider
- slow deliberate seduction to meet desire/intention; cunning, liable to be dangerous when crossed, snappy when her subject is not cooperative; suits mature actress
Age: 30s/40s
