Wedding music

From a Wedding Breakfast to a drinks reception, Troika String Ensembles can provide a musical backdrop for your wedding. The most important part of the day is of course the wedding ceremony, where you will probably want to choose music for:

Tastes vary here. Some people love popular songs while others are more traditional, classical music. But, pieces such as Handel's Entrance of the Queen of Sheba or Elgar's Salut d'Amour remain perennial favourites.

Although a String Quartet is the most popular group for weddings, a String Trio or even Duo is an alternative if you're on a tight budget. A smaller group will not sound as dynamic as a larger one, so if you are planning an outdoor service, you might want to seat the musicians by a wall (which will reflect the sound). Also remember that the group will need shelter from the sun, wind or rain.

Some exotic classical pieces include Mozart’s Presto (from A Musical joke K 552), Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodys No. 2 and No. 14, Dvořk’s Slavonic Dances No. 3 and No. 8, Grieg’s Wedding Day At Troldhaugen, and Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise.

Would you rather hear Offenbach seldom, than Bach often? Even if you are not an opera buff, you probably already know the popular Flower Duet from Delibe’s Lakm; it was used in a famous British Airways commercial.

From tragedy (Prelude from Verdi’s La Traviata) to comedy (Non Piu Andrai from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro), opera has it all.

We can’t supply a large orchestra (or large singers), but these melodies sound wonderful in string-quartet arrangements.
